StarTech.com USB C to M.2 NVMe SSD Aluminium Case - M2E1BMU31C

For users who require an edge in processing speeds, especially for heavy-lifting data transfer or video processing, you might have an M.2 SSD with NVMe support. StarTech.com know how precious data is and so have designed an aluminium enclosure to protect and connect your high-performance storage drive.

Thunderbolt 3 and USB C

• The enclosure adapter allows users to connect their NVMe SSD to their computers via a USB C or Thunderbolt 3 cable. It enables users to make the most of the latest technology by transferring data, reading and writing it, by up to 10Gbps. That’s almost twice the capability of an M.2 SATA case and USB 3.1 Gen 1. A traditional SATA drive wouldn’t allow the same amount of throughput as is available with this device.

Cool Ventilation

• These types of SSD drives have a normal working temperature of around 40 degrees. In order to keep the temperature at a normal level inside the external enclosure, StarTech.com have designed the enclosure with holes for better heat dissipation. Operating at an optimum temperature means users don’t need to worry about performance dropping due to overheating.

Great Portability

• For users on the go, this case is constructed from lightweight aluminium. It’s compact and durable, meaning you can easily slip this into a laptop bag or rucksack without worrying about damage to your external drive or that it’ll weigh you down.

Compatibility

• What makes this product even better is its broad compatibility with tablets, computers, laptops etc. and any host which uses a USB C or Thunderbolt 3 connection type. On top of that, it’s backwards compatible with USB 3.1 Gen 1, making it easy to install in yout home office or other work environments.

This case is perfect for any situation with no need for software downloads, it’s truly plug in and play.

FAQ

What are the applications for this device?

• This is a highly portable and high-performance storage solution for users with M.2 NVMe SSD drives. Users can access data on the drive at lightning speeds and is used for speedy transfers. For working professionals or casual users alike, you can use this enclosure for backup and repair or data recovery too.

How do M.2 drives work?

• M.2 drives work by being connected directly into the motherboard without need for a cable. Mostly this is used with SSDs for storage.

Are NVMe and M.2 the same?

• No, they are not the same. M.2 is the form factor, which means that is how big the drive is and how it connects to the computer. NVMe is a standard, or protocol, for accessing storage.
